Nobody expected: media named Shakhtar's new coach

Oleksandr ChekanovNews
Marino Pušić may take over Shakhtar

Bosnian specialist Marino Pušić is to become the new head coach of Shakhtar Donetsk. Negotiations with the 52-year-old specialist, who has virtually no experience of working independently, are at an advanced stage and should end with the signing of a contract.

This is reported by the TaToTake project Telegram channel. Pušić has held the position of head coach only once in the 2018/2019 season. He then led the Dutch Twente to victory in the first division of the national championship and returned it to the elite.

The Bosnian has also worked as an assistant at Inter Baku, as well as at Dutch clubs such as Breda, Twente, AZ, and Feyenoord. He also helped coach Arne Slot to defeat Shakhtar in the 1/8 finals of the Europa League with a total score of 8:2.

Earlier, the media reported that Shakhtar's management would decide on the new head coach of the team before the match against Barcelona on October 25 in the Champions League.

Shakhtar dismissed Dutchman Patrick van Leeuwen three and a half months after his appointment. After that, the legendary Darijo Srna became the acting coach.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, the Russian Ministry of Sports shared plans for "our Shakhtar" and the Donbas Arena stadium in the temporarily occupied Donetsk.
