Who says traveling abroad is expensive? If you know where to go and what to see, you can have an unforgettable experience without spending too much. The Czech Republic is a prime example of this. From medieval castles and ancient streets to picturesque parks and modern art objects, everyone will find something for themselves.

Waldstein Palace

Located in the historic Mala Strana district. The construction was initiated by Albrecht Wallenstein, one of the commander-in-chiefs of the Roman Empire. The adventurer dreamed of a luxurious home that would be as large as Italian mansions. He was not afraid of either significant expenses or lengthy construction work.

A garden, a pond, and an arena were arranged here. The main halls of the building were decorated with frescoes, moldings, ceiling lamps, and carpet wallpaper.

The Senate has been meeting here since 1992.

Address: Valdštejnské nám. 4

Lennon's Wall

Located near the French Embassy in the Mala Strana district. The attraction was created by an unknown artist after the singer's murder in 1980.

Over time, the art corner became a real open-air gallery. Over the years, its surface has been decorated with works by both amateur and professional artists. Today, a variety of styles and techniques are combined here, making the wall a unique cultural phenomenon.

Address: Velkopřevorské nám.

The Dancing House

The original building was built by architects Vlado Milunić and Frank Gehry in 1992-1996. Today, it is a seven-story office building with a rooftop observation deck and a French restaurant.

Interesting fact: in 1996, the building won the "Design of the Year" nomination from the American Time magazine.

Prague Botanical Garden

Located in the Troy district on the banks of the Vltava River. The center covers an area of more than 70 hectares. Here you can stroll through the Japanese garden and the greenhouse where tropical plants grow.

There is also the St. Clara Vineyard, the largest in the Czech Republic.

Vyshehrad Castle

A defensive structure in Vyšehrad. It was founded around the 10th century. Initially, it was the site of the Přemyslovic settlement with a mint. Later, a royal palace with high arcades, a water supply system, and a school were built.

Nowadays, tourists can see the ruins of the Spikyka gate dating back to 1348-1350.

There is a legend that there is a cave in the city where unique treasures are kept. Among them are the silver horse of Prince Nezamysl, a golden hen with twelve eggs, etc.

Please note! You have to pay for the entrance to the basilica, everything else is free.

Letná Park.

One of the most popular parks in Prague. It is located on the hill of the same name. From here you can admire the neighborhood.

In the Middle Ages, this was the hunting grounds of the local nobility. Today, you can see a baroque building, the Hanavsky Pavilion, the oldest carousel in Europe, and a huge metronome. The latter was installed in 1991 on the site of the demolished Stalin monument.

Address: Letná

Prague Castle

The largest castle complex in the world. During its existence, it served as the residence of Czech princes, kings, and presidents. The first fortifications on the territory appeared in the IX century.

We recommend visiting St. Vitus Cathedral. It is considered a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. By the way, the length of the main nave of the shrine is more than 124 meters.

Also take a walk along the smallest Golden Street, which is decorated with colorful two-story houses. Once upon a time, the riflemen who guarded the fortress lived here. However, the living quarters were tiny, and it's better not to mention the living conditions. Residents took water from fountains and shared a single toilet.

Interesting things. There is a legend that alchemists once lived here, trying to find the elixir of eternal life.
