New trailer for Marvel's "Thunderbolts" released: the star cast is impressive
In a few weeks, the fifth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be expanded with the blockbuster "Thunderbolts." The studio decided to present the new trailer at the most opportune moment for this – during the Super Bowl of the US National Football League.
The game was expected to be watched live by more than 120 million people around the world. In the first 10 hours after the video was posted on Marvel's YouTube channel, it garnered almost 5 million more views. This shows a great interest in the movie.
For the first time in its history, the studio decided to take a risk by creating a movie about a team of anti-heroes. Competitors from DC have achieved great success with Suicide Squad: Suicide Squad. Marvel decided to use their formula for success.
Despite the fact that this is the second trailer for the movie, it is still difficult to say anything about its plot. The video begins with a scene in which Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) warns the American government that the Avengers will no longer come to save the world. "Who will protect American citizens now?" she asks. From the audience, Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier, played by Sebastian Stan, watches.
And then we see footage of the catastrophic consequences of the threat that hangs over America. And Barnes, who finds himself in a room with four beaten and tied up antiheroes of the Marvel universe. Sitting in front of him are Yelena Belova/Black Widow (Florence Pugh), Alexei Shostakovich/Red Guard (David Harbour), John Walker/Agent of the United States (Wyatt Russell), and Ava Starr/Phantom (Anna John-Kamen). The Winter Soldier invites them to team up to defeat evil. Later, they will be joined by Antonia Draikova, also known as Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko).
All we can know for sure from the trailer is that it will be extremely difficult for these five to work together. This is also evidenced by the movie's slogan: "They are not super. They are not heroes. But they will never give up."
"I can't imagine a worse group of people trying to work together," says Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (the phrase sounds a little different in translation). "Do you think you are the saviors of humanity? You can't save yourselves," her words are confirmed by the voice of the film's main villain, whose name we still don't know, and in the trailer we see only his silhouette. But their skepticism is countered by the Red Guard's unwavering confidence that his adopted daughter Yelena will be able to cope with everything, and thus the whole team will succeed.
The premiere of "Thunderbolts" in the Ukrainian box office is scheduled for May 1. The world will see the movie the next day.
