New mobile tariffs and money withdrawal: what awaits Ukrainians in August
In Ukraine, no indexation of social benefits and no significant wage revisions are expected in August. However, one of the major mobile operators will change the cost of its services, and the NBU will withdraw some banknotes from circulation. Read about what Ukrainians should prepare for in August in the OBOZ.UA article.
Mobile communication will become more expensive
Vodafone is preparing to increase the cost of a number of its tariffs. The changes will take place as early as August 1 and will affect not only prices but also the content of certain offers. According to the operator, the Vodafone Red Start tariff will increase by UAH 15. After the price increase, it will cost UAH 190 per month instead of the current UAH 175.
The Vodafone Red Pro tariff will increase by UAH 30 – from the current UAH 230 per month to UAH 260. "At the same time, we are increasing the amount of Internet: from 30 to 40 GB; minutes to other networks in Ukraine: from 250 to 350 minutes," the operator said.
The cost of the Vodafone Red Max tariff will increase by UAH 30 to UAH 330 per month. At the same time, it increases:
- the amount of Internet from 50 to 60 GB;
- minutes to other Ukrainian networks – from 400 to 500 minutes.
The price of Vodafone Red Unlim Plus will increase by UAH 50 to UAH 400 per month. The volume of minutes to other Ukrainian networks will also increase from 500 to 600 minutes.
Vodafone Red Unlim Max tariff will increase by UAH 50 – from UAH 450 per month to UAH 500. "We are increasing the volume of minutes to other Ukrainian networks: from 700 to 800 minutes," Vodafone said.
The 500 UAH bill will be withdrawn from circulation
On August 1, Ukraine will begin the process of withdrawing old 500 UAH banknotes from circulation. These are banknotes issued in 2003-2007. The NBU will gradually recycle these banknotes.
"The public does not need to take any special active steps: just pay for purchases in stores, make payments in banks, replenish their card accounts at terminals, etc. – and the "old" banknotes will be withdrawn and disposed of by the NBU," explained Danylo Hetmantsev, Chairman of the Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy.
Instead of the old 500 hryvnia banknotes, new banknotes of 2014 and subsequent years will be put into circulation. If you receive a call, a message about the need to go somewhere to "exchange banknotes", offer to deposit them on cards with someone's details, warn about a very short time frame after which the money will "burn", etc. – do not believe it, these are fraudsters, in no case do anything of the above, if possible, inform law enforcement and the regulator.
Electricity and gas tariffs
The cost of electricity in August will not change compared to July and will amount to UAH 4.32 per 1 kWh. The current tariff will be valid at least until May 1, 2025. This is what Deputy Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk told OBOZ.UA when asked about the revision of electricity prices: "There are no such plans. Regarding the tariff increase: on May 31, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a decision to extend the provision on the imposition of special obligations (PSO) on electricity market participants, according to which a single fixed price for individual and collective household consumers is set at UAH 4.32/kWh until April 30, 2025."
The gas tariff will not change from August 1. The price per cubic meter will be UAH 7.96. This was reported by Naftogaz. "We understand the importance of stability in these difficult times, so we faithfully fulfill our obligations to our consumers," the gas supply company said.
"Naftogaz of Ukraine supplies gas to 12.4 million Ukrainian households that receive natural gas under the annual Fixed tariff plan. Accordingly, the company's customers do not have to worry about unexpected changes in their utility bills," the company said.
