New Mini Cooper to be unveiled in October: features will surprise you
Mini Cooper is one of the most recognizable and most favorite car models all over the world. And in October it will receive another update.
As the British publication Autoexpress writes, the updated MINI John Cooper Works should be officially presented on October 14 at the Paris Motor Show. It will be the first version of the hot hatchback, which will be offered with both gasoline and electric engines. And the first images of the electric car have already hit the Internet, somewhat spoiling the atmosphere of surprise.
The images were published by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). It also revealed some key technical details of the new MINI John Cooper Works E, which is the full name of the car.
The most important figure is definitely the 225 horsepower that the model has received. That's a significant increase in power versus the 181 hp of the entry-level MINI Cooper E or the 215 hp of the more advanced Cooper SE. It's also more than the MINI's main competitor, the Alpine A290, even in its most powerful variant.
However, you have to take into account that the updated MINI weighs 1,670 kg, according to the MIIT application. And this is almost 200 kg more than the weight of the A290. Nevertheless, acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in the novelty is declared within 6 seconds.
The new hot hatchback appears to have a similar racing dodger to the usual MINI Cooper in sporty trim. But changes include more aggressive front and rear bumpers, a new rear diffuser, a roof spoiler with air blades and 18-inch wheels. Some of the unique elements that the JCW E will get include red brake calipers and some other accents, as well as a checkered flag on the trunk lid.
The gasoline-powered MINI JCW is expected to have power close to its predecessor. The current generation model has 250 horsepower and a 2-liter turbocharged engine.
