Alexander Garkavenko, head of the administration of the Russian village of Goncharivka in the suburbs of Sudzha, complained about the rapid advance of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in Kursk region. He acknowledged that false reports were being generated on the ground that everything was "under control" and that overly optimistic information was being transmitted to Moscow.

The interception of the government official's phone conversation was published by the NEXTA Live Telegram channel, citing military correspondent Andriy Tsaplienko. In the recording, Harkavenko can be heard emotionally sharing his impressions of the offensive on the Kursk region with the interlocutor.

"I was surprised! I'm a local resident, but I don't know the terrain as well as they (the Ukrainian army - Ed.) did. I was just amazed! I said, "Damn, they move so well! They didn't go everywhere along the main federal road, the asphalted one," the official was surprised.

According to him, the Russian army knew about the upcoming Ukrainian operation two weeks in advance, but did not prepare properly. The civilian population was lied to that it would be just another shelling, but more active. As a result, many local residents were left to fend for themselves.

"The problem is that for two days we were reporting very pleasant, encouraging news to Moscow..." Harkavenko admitted.

At the same time, the pace of the Ukrainian offensive was so high that the district administration did not have time to move - as soon as they moved to a new settlement, it was already under the control of the Ukrainian army the next day.

All civilian authorities did not receive any information and did not know what to do. For example, whether to evacuate people or not.

According to the Russian, "all civilians are talking about betrayal." But he has a different opinion and believes that this is "pure corruption."

"The most interesting thing isthat there are 'Mine' signs, but there are no mines there," the official said about the "protection" of the territory.

During the evacuation of one of the settlements, Harkavenko met two Russian conscripts. The command actually abandoned them: the soldiers were promised that they would only have to hold out for two days, and then "everything would be fine."

Harkavenko noticed that the conscripts had only two horns with ammunition. When asked: "Is this all that's left?" the occupation army soldier replied: "No, that's all I had".

The Russian military committed war crimes in front of civilians. They placed Grad multiple rocket launchers directly in the middle of residential buildings and fired at the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

"I turn on the TV in the evening to see what's going on - Smirnov (acting governor of the Kursk region - Ed.) reports that everything is fine, the situation is under control..." the Russian was outraged.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, Ukraine has taken a risky step by sending much-needed military units to the Kursk region. Russia, on the other hand, is in no hurry to withdraw some of the forces involved in the occupiers' offensive in Donetsk region, according to Der Spiegel.
