More than just Synevyr: Transcarpathian reservoirs to relax by before summer ends
When the sea is inaccessible, you can choose lakes. Which, by the way, are in no way inferior to the seaside resorts of Odesa region. Today there are all the conditions for leisure, and the service is at the highest level. It's also safe here, and air raid alerts are rare.
Continue reading to discover where to go.
Didove Lake
It is located near the village of Dyida, not far from the city of Berehove. Interestingly, 50 years ago there was a sand quarry, but due to sand mining, houses in the village began to collapse, so the deposit was flooded. Over time, the reservoir became a favorite vacation spot not only for locals but also for tourists from all over the country.
Those who like active entertainment are advised to go water skiing, catamaran boating, banana boating, or simply play volleyball or football. For those who prefer a quiet leisure time, we recommend sunbathing on the well-equipped beach. By the way, there is a playground for the youngest visitors.
There is also a specially designated area for a tent camp. It is divided into 80 sectors that are available for rent. Threre are also the grill, gazebos and sun loungers, as well as garbage cans, toilets and parking spaces. By the way, the area is fenced and illuminated at night. You can also go fishing and try to catch pike, carp, perch, catfish, etc.
The Horus water park is also just a 5-minute drive away.
Blue Lagoon
It is located near the village of Chornoholova on the Lyuta River. Until recently, only locals knew about this location. Later, at the initiative of the Velykyi Bereznyi forestry, a route for tourists was laid here. It is 7 kilometers long, 2 of which are on foot.
The water here is turquoise, and the landscape around resembles the real tropics. Keep in mind that the reservoir does not warm up even in summer, so you should be careful when swimming.
By the way, it's easy to get here. There are information signs along the trails. There are also equipped gazebos where you can take a break and have a snack.
Vilshany Reservoir
It is located in the valley of the Tereblya River, near the village of Vilshany. The reservoir stretches for 10 kilometers, and the water is held back by a 46-meter-high dam. By the way, two settlements were evicted for its construction.
Here you can go for a ride on an inflatable boat, a SUP, or go kayaking, but keep in mind that you need to bring all your equipment with you. Unfortunately, there is no rental service here. We also recommend coming here with a tent. You should spend more than one day here to see how the sun wakes up and falls asleep.
When choosing a route, we recommend starting from Kolochava. This is where you can see the dam. In Vilshany itself, there is a museum of architecture and life called "Old Village". Here you will learn more about how people lived here.
Khashchovanske Lake
It is located near the village of Nyzhniy Studenyi, Khust district. The location is at an altitude of about 800 meters above sea level. Due to its shallow depth, the reservoir warms up well in the summer season.
Clean water and the absence of algae create ideal conditions for swimming. There is also a gentle slope, so the beach is safe for children. Cozy gazebos with barbecues are also available for tourists. Keep in mind that you need to pay for the entrance to the territory.
In addition to swimming and sunbathing, you can go fishing, horseback riding, or explore the surroundings on a mountain bike or ATV. For sports enthusiasts, there are volleyball and table tennis courts. You can play billiards or darts in a cozy room.
There is also a restaurant where you can taste traditional Transcarpathian dishes. We recommend trying bohrach with meat or banosh with cheese and bacon.
Kunihunda Lake
It is located in the town of Solotvyno and is the largest in the area. It is also one of the most popular resorts visited by tourists every year. They come here because of its high salt content and therapeutic mud.
There is a legend that the wife of Kyiv Prince Yaropolk used to spend a lot of time here, but it is hard to say whether it is true or not. By the way, mines used to be located here, but due to an underground explosion, mineral extraction was stopped. Today the reservoir has a positive effect on the human body. Cardiovascular, skin and other diseases are treated here.
There are hotels, boarding houses and sanatoriums around the lake. In summer, the water temperature ranges from 24°C to 28°C. Here you can not only swim but also take mud baths. There are also picnic areas. And thanks to its remote location, it is always quiet and peaceful here.
Do not postpone your trip for later! Hurry up to catch the summer sun!
