Mitsubishi will abandon the cheapest model: what will be offered instead
The compact Mitsubishi Mirage is the cheapest model of the Japanese company in the United States with a price of less than $18,000. It was decided to abandon it and replace it with another model – the Mitsubishi Xforce compact crossover.
This became known to The Drive. Mirage sales are constantly falling – in 2022, only 15,816 units were sold to American buyers. In Japan, sales have already been curtailed, and the US will do the same by 2025.
But the model has other problems. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in the United States calls the Mitsubishi Mirage the most dangerous new car on the American market. This is due to its compact size and outdated design.

The new Mitsubishi Xforce crossover will replace it. It was presented recently. The car was made in the current design of the company. There are narrow headlights and lights, a large trapezoidal front grille, sharp edges, and neat chrome decor.
The crossover is compact: 4390 mm long (wheelbase – 2650 mm) with 1810 mm width and 1660 mm height. Interestingly, the ground clearance is 222 mm. On bad roads, the car will behave confidently.
The car is only slightly larger than the Mitsubishi ASX. The compact crossover is powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 105 hp. Later, a more powerful version with a hybrid powertrain will debut.
