Marvel is in trouble over posters for the new "The Fantastic Four": what's wrong
Marvel Studios has found itself at the center of a scandal after the publication of a poster for the movie "The Fantastic Four: First Steps." The design of the image raised doubts among social media users who suspected that it was created with the help of artificial intelligence.
One of the posters presented in early February depicts a crowd waving to superheroes. However, attentive fans noticed some strange details: some characters in the image have only four fingers, and two women in the crowd are almost identical.
This led to a wave of discussions and speculations that the studio could have used generative AI to create it.
A Marvel Studios spokesperson denied these accusations in a comment to The Hollywood Reporter, saying that no AI technologies were used in the development of the poster. At the same time, the controversy does not subside, as similar scandals have already occurred in Hollywood.
This incident is yet another development in the recent debate over the use of artificial intelligence in the film industry. In particular, a similar scandal erupted around the movie "The Brutalist," where producers were accused of using AI to correct actors' dialogues. However, the creators of the movie categorically rejected these assumptions.
The movie "The Fantastic Four: First Steps," directed by Matt Shackman, is scheduled for release in July. It stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Despite the controversy, Marvel continues to actively prepare for the premiere, and fans are eagerly awaiting the first trailer.
