Germany has a lot to offer its guests for traveling and vacationing at any time of the year. However, against the backdrop of popular Berlin, Munich, or Cologne, some amazing places remain the country's lost treasures.

The Mirror has named Saxony and its capital Dresden as one such place. The tenth largest of Germany's 16 federal states, Saxony can offer tourists a huge number of palaces and castles dating back to the Middle Ages. In addition, it is a historical region that was the scene of tumultuous events during the Reformation and the Napoleonic Wars.

The center of Dresden was almost destroyed during World War II. Local residents have been carefully restoring it for decades, using materials from the original buildings.

A special attraction of the city is the Frauenkirche Dresden, a Lutheran church. Like most buildings in Dresden, it did not survive the Great War. But after the reunification of the two Germanies, it was rebuilt according to historical drawings and eventually opened in 2005. The church has become a symbol of reconciliation and unity. However, the city offers many more beautiful places to admire while traveling.

Tourism guides recommend adding the city of Görlitz to your itinerary. It is one of the few towns in the region that survived the war. It is located on the border with Poland and is literally full of picturesque buildings and charming streets that deserve a place on your Instagram.

If you drive to Görlitz in northern Saxony and go to the famous Azalea and Rhododendron Park Kromlau, you can see the Rakotzbrücke, also known as Devil's Bridge. It was built in the 19th century. Reflected in the water below, the bridge arch turns into a perfect circle.

It is also definitely worth a stop in Leipzig. This Saxon city is famous for its musical history. It is associated with the names of numerous prominent composers: Felix Mendelssohn, Robert Schumann, Richard Wagner, Edvard Grieg, and Johann Sebastian Bach. For art lovers, there are many bright galleries here.
