Madonna hits Guinness Book of World Records as best-selling singer ever for the second time
American pop diva Madonna, 65, has become the Guinness Book of World Records' best-selling artist ever for the second time. The first time she received this title was back in 2009.
It is reported that the artist has sold over 400 million records in her 40-year career. Her huge success has allowed her to outsell other world-famous singers such as Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Mariah Carey, the Hollywood Reporter writes (scroll to the bottom of the page to see the photo).
In July 2022, the Guinness Book of World Records also announced that Madonna is the most profitable touring artist, having earned more than $1.3 billion during her tours. The amount is expected to increase significantly after her world tour called Celebration, which began recently.
The first concert of the planned ones this year took place in London. Madonna appeared on stage with the flag of Ukraine and called for an end to the war. By the way, the singer made a statement in support of Ukraine. She wrote, "Putin has violated all existing human rights treaties. Putin has no right to try to erase the existence of Ukraine. We support you, President Zelensky!"
In 1998, Madonna was included in the Guinness Book of World Records as the owner of the longest continuous series of singles. The star was also named the highest-paid singer of all time.
The artist began writing her hits about 40 years ago, surpassing herself every time. Her music videos, which are sometimes more than 20 years old, are still enjoyed by her fans. The number of views very often crosses the mark of several hundred million.
Thus, the dance track Hung Up has garnered almost half a billion views, and the collaboration with Justin Timberlake 4 Minutes has already been viewed by more than 200 million users.
Madonna also boasts La Isla Bonita, Papa Don't Preach, Material Girl, Like A Virgin and many other hits. In 2008, the star was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. According to Forbes magazine, Madonna is the richest woman in American show business.
Earlier, OBOZ.UA wrote that Madonna was found unconscious in her mansion. As it was found in the hospital, the pop star developed a serious bacterial infection. A tube was inserted into her trachea to ventilate the lungs.
