Lukashenko wins fake elections in Belarus: CEC results

Lukashenko will continue to be "president"

Alexander Lukashenko is winning the so-called presidential election in Belarus, according to preliminary "calculations" by the Central Election Commission. About 86.82% of voters allegedly voted for the dictator.

This was reported by the state Belarusian news agency BELTA, citing a statement by the head of the CEC, Igor Karpenko. According to him, 86.82% of voters voted for the current illegitimate president.

The second place was taken by Serhiy Sirankov with 3.21%, and the third place was taken by Oleh Haidukevych (2.02%).

At the same time, 3.60% of citizens who took part in the elections voted against all candidates.

The "elections" took place on January 26, and the total turnout, according to official Minsk, exceeded 80%. The final press conference of the Central Election Commission of Belarus, dedicated to the preliminary results of the presidential "elections", will be held on January 27.

The European Commission has stated that Lukashenko's "election" is fictitious and lacks legitimacy.

According to EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas and European Commissioner for Enlargement Martha Kos, Lukashenko's regime invited ODIHR/OSCE observers only 10 days before the election, which deprived this independent body of access to key stages of the process.

"This is another proof of the complete lack of credibility of these 'elections'. As soon as Belarus embarks on the path of democratic transformation, the EU is ready to support the country in stabilizing its economy and reforming its institutions," the statement reads.

As a reminder, early voting was announced in Belarus on January 21, and the main election day took place on January 26.

This is Lukashenko's seventh election in a row. According to a survey of participants, the votes were allegedly distributed as follows:

- for Alexander Lukashenko - 87.6%;

- against all - 5.1%;

- for Sergey Syrankov - 2.7%;

- for Oleg Gaidukevich - 1.8%;

- for Anna Kanopatska - 1.6%;

- Alexandr Khyzhnyak - 1.2%.

If the pro-government exit polls are confirmed by the CEC, the dictator will break his own record for official support:

- in the second round of 1994, he gained 80.34%;

- in the 2001 elections - 75.65%;

- in the 2006 elections - 82.97%:

- in the 2010 elections - 79.65%;

- in the 2015 elections - 83.47%;

- in the 2020 elections - 80.1%.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus assured that gross violations of law and order in the so-called elections "were not allowed" and "the situation is under control."

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stated that the results of the voting in Belarus are known in advance. Our country has no reason to consider these so-called elections a "people's will", as Belarus does not even have the basic conditions for such an event.

On January 22, the European Parliament called for not recognizing Lukashenko as a legitimate president because of the sham election in Belarus.
