Like in the Caribbean: a European island will be a great option for a beach vacation
Sardinia is a unique island off the west coast of mainland Italy. Sandy beaches, crystal clear turquoise water, mountains, lagoons and stunning coastlines make it a truly ideal vacation destination.
The Strait of Bonifacio separates Sardinia from Corsica. The western shores of the island are mostly low-lying, while the eastern shores are mountainous. The Mirror magazine told why Sardinia is called the European Caribbean.
The island has a dry subtropical Mediterranean climate. The largest cities of Sardinia are Cagliari and Sassari.
Three international airports connect Sardinia with most major Italian cities. There are also direct flights to the UK, Spain, Scandinavian countries, Germany, and more.
Sardinia has an intensive ferry connection with mainland Italy, and there are 40 tourist harbors on the island. The road network here is quite dense, but at the same time, Sardinia is the only Italian region with no highways at all. There are also railways on the island, and a tram runs in two cities, Sassari and Cagliari.
Monte Cogoni beach is called one of the most beautiful in Italy. It is a true sanctuary of crystal clear waters and soft golden sand. There are recreation areas for guests equipped with sun loungers, umbrellas, and towels.
The nearby Campana Dun beach is an ideal place for those who want to combine the gentle sea breeze with soft melodies coming from nearby establishments.
Tourists are advised to rent electric bicycles and travel to the province of Capo Spartivento along the ancient Roman road. There is a stunning red lighthouse on the edge of the southern coast.
It is also worth visiting the historic Chia Tower to admire this beautiful area from above.
