On Wednesday evening, November 1, in the Poltava region, in the town of Horishni Plavni, lightning struck a canoe with a minor born in 2007. After that, the teenager disappeared into the water, and the search for him is ongoing.

This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in Poltava region (to see the photo, scroll to the bottom of the page). The incident occurred at about 17:20 during a canoe training session in the Barbara Bay.

A five-person training group from a local yacht club was on its way back to shore due to bad weather when lightning struck one of the boats.

Law enforcement officers received information about the emergency from health authorities. A rescuer from the State Emergency Service, representatives of the water police, the municipal guard and the public arrived at the scene. They searched for the teenager both on water and on land.

"The police investigative unit, under the procedural supervision of the Horishni Plavni Department of the Kremenchuk District Prosecutor's Office, registered this incident in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Part 2 of Article 137 (Improper performance of duties to protect the life and health of children, if they caused the death of a minor or other serious consequences) of the of the Criminal Code of Ukraine," the statement said.

As OBOZ.UA reported, a girl and three men were found dead in a dormitory in Poltava. The incident occurred in a dormitory in the Kyiv district on Monday, October 23.
