Kyivstar will disconnect Ukrainians from 3G: what will happen to mobile internet
Kyivstar mobile operator has started sending SMS messages to its subscribers about the disconnection of 3G. The reason for this is the company's intention to develop a 4G network.
This was reported by MZU-Mobile Communications of Ukraine, an independent community of mobile technologies in Ukraine. They noted that another reason for Kyivstar's refusal to use 3G is its desire to introduce new technologies.
Kyivstar has started sending SMS about 3G disconnection. Kyivstar plans to stop supporting 3G to further develop its 4G network and introduce new technologies. We will inform you about the date of 3G shutdown in advance," the company said in a statement.
How to use the mobile Internet after 3G shutdown
At the same time, it is emphasized that in order to continue using high-speed mobile Internet and communication after the 3G shutdown, you should turn on 4G/LTE on your smartphone. Instructions for Android:
- select "Settings";
- in the settings, select "Connections";
- then – "Mobile networks";
- then – "Network type";
- select the network mode with "4G" or "LTE" in the description.
For IOS:
- go to Settings;
- select "Cellular data";
- activate "Cellular data", after which the network available for the phone will be automatically pulled up.
Kyivstar numbers start with a new code 077
Earlier, Kyivstar received permission to use the destination network code 77 (+380 77). This means that the operator's numbers will start with 077. However, the existing numbers will not be affected by the innovation.
According to MZU-Mobile Communications of Ukraine, an independent community of mobile technologies in Ukraine, Kyivstar says that the additional code will help it prevent a shortage of free numbers. After all, "the remaining free numbering resource is not enough to meet the needs of subscribers in the next two years."
Kyivstar currently uses 5 national codes for its mobile network. These are:
- 67;
- 68;
- 96;
- 97;
- 98.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Kyivstar subscribers can also check what they pay the operator for. They can find out all the information about their tariff in several ways. In particular, by texting *100*01*2.
