Kia recalled more than a thousand cars from sale: the reason is known
The automotive industry faces numerous challenges every year. Among them, ensuring the safety of its vehicles is one of the most important.
The latest news from the automotive market is causing concern among Kia Niro owners and potential buyers. The automaker has announced that it is recalling more than a thousand cars due to malfunctions.
Not long ago, Kia Motors announced a recall of more than a thousand cars, namely 1366 units of Niro models, due to a fire hazard. This recall applies to both hybrid and plug-in hybrid models (HEV, PHEV).
The company has discovered that some Niro models manufactured from 2020 to 2022 may have a serious fault. The automaker said in a statement that due to a manufacturing defect in the Hydraulic Clutch Actuator (HCA) module, moisture can get on the printed circuit board (PCB). As a result, there is an increased likelihood that this will cause a short circuit and subsequently a fire in the vehicle.
"A vehicle fire can increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users, bystanders, and/or property damage," the company said in a statement.
What should Kia Niro owners do?
Kia urges all owners of Niro cars that are subject to the recall to immediately contact an authorized Kia dealer for a free inspection and, if necessary, replacement of the hydraulic clutch. All work will be performed at the expense of the automaker.
The company also provides additional information and advice through its hotline.
