Marseille head coach Gennaro Gattuso reacted emotionally to the final score of the match against Shakhtar in the Europe League playoffs. The Italian specialist was shocked that he was deprived of victory by a 175 cm tall player who scored a header in the 93rd minute.

"It is very difficult for me to comment on the result. I've been playing football for 30 years, but I've never had situations like today. We wanted to win this match, we almost succeeded. Now we need to focus on the next match. We also have a return game against Shakhtar. We were very close to winning, but we lost it. I can't come here smiling as if we had won," tribuna.com quoted Gattuso as saying.

On February 15, Shakhtar Donetsk drew with French side Marseille in the first match of the 1/16 finals of the Europe League in the 2023/24 season. Nominally, the home match at the Volksparkstadion stadium in Hamburg, Germany, ended with a score of 2:2, while the Ukrainians equalized in the 93rd minute.

Brazilian legionnaire Eginaldo was able to jump over the defender after Zubkov's cross and send the ball into the net with his head.
