International Federation, which mocked Ukraine, caught up with karma

Boxers from federations that are members of the International Boxing Association (IBA) will not be able to participate in the 2028 Olympics, the Daily Mail reports, citing an unnamed representative of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). In June last year, the IOC voted to revoke the recognition of the IBA, which is run by Russian Umar Kremlin.

In 2019, the IOC temporarily withdrew the IBA's recognition status for economic reasons and due to a management crisis in the organization, and also put forward reform requirements.

"As always with the IBA, it is unclear where the money comes from. The complete lack of financial transparency was one of the reasons why the IOC withdrew the IBA's recognition. The IBA was not prepared to transparently explain its sources of funding or explain its complete financial dependence at the time on the only state-owned company, Gazprom," the Daily Mail writes.

Due to the suspension and subsequent withdrawal of recognition by the IOC in 2023, the IBA did not participate in the qualification or organization of the boxing tournament for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, and is not participating in Paris 2024.

The IOC spokesman added: "Boxing is not currently included in the sports program for the 2028 Olympic Games. To rectify this, Olympic boxing must be organized by a credible and well-run international federation. Therefore, it is already clear that any boxer whose national federation joins the IBA will not be able to participate in the LA28 Olympic Games."

In 2023, the IBA allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international competitions with national symbols, contrary to IOC recommendations.

Earlier, the IBA also ignored the CAS decision to ban the presidential election and re-elected Kremlin. As a result, an ardent fan of dictator Vladimir Putin imposed sanctions on Ukraine.

The IBU banned our country's junior national team from competing under the national flag at the European Championships. In response, our team announced a boycott and withdrew from the competition. The legendary Oleksandr Usyk supported his compatriots and appealed to the Kremlin.
