In Transcarpathia, a deputy detonated grenades in the building of the Keretskyi village council. The explosion injured 26 people.
At least six of the wounded, including the bomber, are in serious condition. This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.
"Today at 11:37 a.m., the 102 line received a report that one of the deputies had detonated grenades in the building of the Keretskyi village council in Mukachevo district during a session," the statement said.
According to the National Police, 26 people were injured in the incident, six of them in serious condition.
Doctors are trying to resuscitate the man who detonated the grenades. Initially, the National Police stated that he died in the explosion, but later the man was found to have a heartbeat, OBOZ.UA has learned.
Local media outlet Transcarpathia 24 cited sources as saying that before the incident, the deputy had quarreled with colleagues over the allocation of a 50% bonus and a 100% monthly bonus to the village head during the war.
It is likely that this issue caused Serhii Batryn's indignation, as he initially refused to recognize the village council chairman's work as satisfactory. His colleagues did not accept his claims and arguments. The man left and returned with three grenades, which he threw on the floor.
It is now known that the deputy had a conflict with the current head of the community. The deputies even raised the issue of early termination of the powers of Mykhailo Mushka, the head of the Keretska TG.
On the contrary, Transcarpathian journalist Vitalii Glagola published a video of the explosion. It depicts a man entering the hall in the middle of the session and standing in the doorway. At some point, he throws at least three grenades on the floor, which explode moments later.
Glagola noted that the bombing took place during a session where MPs were discussing the 2024 budget. He also noted that the bomber was elected to the council from the Servant of the People party.
"According to my information, the bomber is a deputy of the Keretskyi village council of the first convocation from the Servant of the People party, born on September 12, 1969, who lives in the village of Kushnytsia. At the moment, it is known that the deputy bomber is alive," Glagola wrote.
OBOZ.UA sources confirm Glagola's information.
At the same time, MP Oleksii Honcharenko claims that the grenades were detonated by Serhii Batryn, a deputy of the Keretskyi village council from the Servant of the People party.
Local media claim that Batryn had recently been harshly criticizing local authorities on his Facebook page.
The National Police assured that all relevant services, the police investigative team, explosives experts and forensic experts are working at the scene. Priority investigative actions are underway.
"Investigators have classified the incident under Part 1 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives). In addition, the Security Service of Ukraine is registering information and will investigate the incident under Part 1 of Article 258 (Terrorist Act) of the Criminal Code, which is under the jurisdiction of the Security Service of Ukraine," the National Police said.
The MP faces up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property for committing a terrorist act.
A few days ago, it was reported that a man tried to rob a pawnshop in Kyiv region, threatening with a grenade.
And in Kyiv, another Ukrainian citizen decided to use a grenade to resolve a conflict with his neighbor. He threatened his opponent that he would detonate the munition under his door.
