Lithuanian wrestler Andrius Mažeika won the BRICS Games in Russia, which local propagandists pompously call the "alternative Olympics," but the athlete did not even attend the competition. The final in the "koresh" (belt wrestling) discipline was held without any participants.

According to the Agency, Mažeika was the only athlete from Lithuania, competing in the 85 kg weight category. He lost his first fight at the 1/4 finals stage to Kazakhstan's Adilet Zhanbyrsha, as he did not show up for the competition, and thus was eliminated in the consolation bracket.

In the consolation match, the Lithuanian wrestled Romanian Stepan Caraseni, who also failed to show up for the competition. The judges awarded the victory to Mazeika, which allowed him to reach the finals, where he fought for 3-5 places. Here, the Lithuanian lost to Kyrgyzstan's Anvar Muratbek Uul with a score of 0:5.

Andrius Mažeika is a real-life wrestler from Lithuania. The Lithuanian edition of LRT tried to contact him to find out if he participated in the BRICS games, but was unable to get through.

The Lithuanian Wrestling Federation said that no one had delegated the athlete to compete in Russia. Moreover, the president of the federation, Gedrius Dambrauskas, said that he had last seen the athlete more than two years ago and that he had not been involved in sports professionally since the beginning of 2021.

The athlete's coach in Lithuania, Sergei Kasimov, also told LRT that Mažeika has not trained for three years due to a back injury and could not travel to Russia.

"Maybe they are falsifying these protocols to show that more countries are involved. I am 99.9% sure that he did not go there, I will call him myself and find out if he was there," Kasymov said.

In a conversation with the Agency, Kasymov said that he had not yet understood the situation.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, on June 17, the Russian won the BRICS Games in Russia, being the only one in the tournament.
