In the village of Zalukva, Ivano-Frankivsk region, archaeologists have been excavating a two-layer settlement of the Trypillian culture and one layer of the Bronze Age Noah culture for four years. During the last stage of the work, experts managed to find fragments of ancient pottery.

According to archaeologist and candidate of historical sciences Taras Tkachuk, the researchers came across the remains of a clay house and a complex of pits. In one of them, fragments of three hundred pieces of dishes used in the early and middle Trypillia period were found, Suspilne reports.

"There are painted and kitchen utensils. There are much more painted ones. And interestingly, there are dishes not only of Trypillian culture but also of cultures that are synchronous with it. There are dishes of the Malicka culture, which was on the territory of Lesser Poland and modern Volyn," said Taras Tkachuk.

According to the archaeologist, the main color in the painting of the dishes is black. White and red were also used. "The image, unfortunately, is fragmented and difficult to see, but it often has various stripes, ovals, and ornaments," the scientist noted.

Taras Tkachuk also said that the excavated settlement is located on the left bank of the Lukva River, which is a right tributary of the Dniester. Scientists have not yet established the actual size of the settlement.

According to Tkachuk, the excavation site is unique because archaeologists had not previously assumed that the Early Trypillia period existed on these lands. "The Early Trypillia period is divided into stages. Stage A is approximately 4500 years BC. Stage B – there are no exact dates yet, but it is approximately 4000 BC," the researcher explained.

Work on the historical find in the Halych community has been suspended for now. "Geophysicists from Lviv have found a few more huts there. If everything goes well, we will continue these works in the spring," emphasized Taras Tkachuk.

Archaeologists remind that the first settlement of the early stage of Trypillian culture in the Carpathian region was discovered more than five years ago in the village of Kozyna, Ivano-Frankivsk district.
