If you want to get hot in November: where to spend your fall vacation
November rains and the first frosts herald the beginning of the long cold season. If you're looking to book a November vacation destination where it's still hot, there's one real gem you should consider.
Agadir, on the southern coast of Morocco, is known for its stunning beaches, incredible scenery, and rich culture that is so much fun to discover and explore. Experts told us why you should choose this destination for your trip.
Agadir is a large city in Morocco, on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. It is the capital of Agadir Ida Ou-Tanan prefecture and the economic region of Sousse Massa.
The entire city had to be rebuilt after the devastating event of 1960. After the earthquake, little survived in the city, except for an impressive citadel on top of a hill overlooking the ocean.
After the devastation, Agadir was rebuilt, but many modern buildings are reminiscent of the city's past.
You will find beautiful Arabic architecture, many exquisite mosques, as well as historical museums and art galleries, one of the most popular of which is the Musée du Patrimoine Amazigh d'Agadir.
Here you can view both modern and traditional works of art, as well as learn about the unique Berber culture.
The coastline stretches for more than 10 kilometers, making Agadir an ideal place for a beach vacation. The average temperature in November is 25 °C, so you can definitely sunbathe and relax on the warm beaches.
However, if you want an unusual experience, it is worth visiting the Crocopark, where you can see Nile crocodiles resting by the pond, as well as iguanas, snakes, and monkeys.
According to Lonely Planet, it's also easy to get there – a shuttle bus departs from the Uniprix in the city center daily at 9:30 am and 2:30 pm and returns three hours later.
Agadir has many traditional Moroccan dishes for fans of gastronomic tourism. The cuisine of this part of the world is known for its palette of delicious spices.
Sardines are one of the main dishes you should try in Agadir, as this coastal city has one of the most important sardine ports in the Atlantic. You should also try tangir, also known as bachelor stew. This dish, made with lamb or beef, turmeric, cumin, garlic, lemon pickle, and sometimes ras al ghanout, is roasted in the oven in a clay pot called a tangia. And while you've probably eaten couscous at home, you've never tried anything like couscous in Morocco.
