Netflix's costumed pseudo-historical series "The Bridgertons" has become not just a hit, but a real cultural phenomenon. Millions of fans around the world are eagerly awaiting new episodes, but they come out once every year or two. So what to do the rest of the time?

The platform itself has compiled a list of series for its viewers that may be of interest to them. They are similar in theme and setting and are also available for viewing on Netflix.

"Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story"

This is not just a series similar to "The Bridgertons." This is its official spinoff. The show is also written by Shonda Rhimes. The story takes viewers back to the early days of the reign of the young Queen Charlotte (India Amarteifio) and tells of her marriage to the mysterious young King George (Corey Mylchreest). While we unravel the mysteries of the past, Queen Charlotte also gives us a glimpse into the present day Bridgertons, with the part revealing events that unfold between seasons 2 and 3 of the flagship show.

"The Law According to Lidia Poët"

The Italian TV show is not connected to the original universe but has a lot in common with it. It takes place more than 50 years after Penelope Bridgerton made a splash as a woman in the publishing business (under a pseudonym, of course). In Italy, Lidia Poët (Matilda De Angelis) becomes the first woman lawyer. But she is immediately deprived of her license. Precisely because she is a woman. So the heroine and her team must work outside the patriarchal legal system to solve cases on behalf of their desperate and falsely accused clients. Inspired by a real-life figure, the series features luxurious costumes, a strong protagonist, and, of course, plenty of sex.

"The Empress"

The passionate romance between a young noblewoman and her sexy, entitled new husband is a classic story. And in the real world, too. "The Empress" follows the real-life 19th-century Bavarian princess who later became the Austrian Empress Elisabeth, better known as Sisi (Devrim Lingnau). It also follows her husband, Emperor Franz Joseph (Philippe Froissant). The German show gives the audience romance, passionate love scenes, and, of course, stunning costumes.

"Lovesick"

Let's move on to the present day. After all, passion and romance do not depend on the historical era. The characters of the British comedy show are three best friends: Dylan (Johnny Flynn), Evie (Antonia Thomas), and Luke (Daniel Ings). Throughout three seasons, they messily flirt, fall in love, experience dramas, and reveal spicy secrets – just like the Bridgertons.

"The Crown"

While "The Bridgertons" and "Queen Charlotte" give us a glimpse into the lives and reigns of King George III and Queen Charlotte, the six seasons of "The Crown" take a wide-ranging look at the lives of the modern British royal family. From the beginning of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II to the turbulent events following the death of Princess Diana, enjoy the British history of the monarchy on an unprecedented scale.

"Outlander"

This time we dive even deeper into history. Based on the novel series of the same name by Diana Gabledon, the show puts the viewer in the shoes of a World War II nurse named Claire (Caitriona Belfi). She accidentally finds mythical stones that transport her to 1740s Scotland. She meets an attractive highlander, Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), and becomes part of the Mackenzie clan. The series spans continents, timelines, and imminent danger at every turn, but the fire of Claire and Jamie's relationship never fades.

"Cable Girls"

If you loved "The Bridgertons" for its style, this Spanish series will captivate you with its carefully recreated atmosphere of 1920s Madrid. The historical drama tells the story of a group of women who quickly become loyal friends while working for Spain's first national telephone company. The heroines, endowed with strength and ambition, climb the ranks, defy convention, and find comfort in the arms of their past and present lovers.

"The Elite"

Just as the intrigue of "The Bridgertons" depends on who reveals the identity of the author of social gossip, each season of The Elite also begins with a mystery that needs to be solved. Yes, the Spanish drama is set in the present day, but its characters, students of Las Encinas High School, enjoy a lot of secret games, heartache, and intense balls (i.e. noisy parties) that could compete with any front page of Lady Wilddown's scandalous sheet.

"Sex Education"

In "The Bridgertons," much of the humor is based on the fact that young ladies from high society have no idea how sex works. The hit "Sex Education" shows the problem from a different angle - it tells the story of a teenager who teaches other students at his school the wonders of sex. And it's not just about sexually transmitted infections. The series is also related to The Bridgertons because of Simone Ashley's participation in the cast.

"Call the Midwife"

As of today, there have been 13 seasons of this show and it hasn't been canceled yet. The show is based on the memoirs of a nurse and writer Jennifer Worth. It is set in London, more specifically in the East End. In the 1950s, a group of midwives set out to help pregnant women and beyond. At the same time, we observe the story of their friendship and sisterhood.
