Ahmedhodzic assesses the match with Ukraine

Bosnia and Herzegovina defender Anel Ahmedhodzic admitted that he experienced severe cramps during a match for the first time in his career. The 24-year-old footballer, commenting on the defeat of Ukraine in the semifinals of the Euro 2024 playoffs, noted that he and his teammates worked intensively almost to the very end.

Ahmedhodzic told this reprezentacija.ba after the final whistle of the match in Zenica. The Sheffield United defender added that he was forced to ask for a substitute in the 82nd minute of the game due to pain, after which the Ukrainians turned the match around, won a strong-willed victory and reached the playoffs' finals.

"I think we followed the plan well. Everything was fine until the 80th minute, and then I don't know what happened. I really don't. We need to figure it out and understand what happened. I have never had cramps in my calf muscles before. It had never happened to me before. I couldn't take it anymore, and I had to leave," Ahmedhodzic said.
