If you find adult moths in your closet – these are small butterflies with a wingspan of about 1-2 cm, or larvae – you should take immediate action. Other signs that your clothes are infested are the presence of characteristic holes in them.

In fact, contrary to popular belief, adult moths do not feed on fabric fibers. Instead, they lay their eggs on your clothes, and the larvae begin to spoil things after they hatch. Therefore, it is worth fighting not only the moths but also their offspring.

How to get rid of moths and their larvae

As soon as you find signs of moths, you should take all your clothes out of the closet, put them in a bag, and put them in the freezer overnight. The low temperatures will kill the eggs and larvae.

After that, wash all the clothes on a delicate cycle and make sure there are no insect residues left on them.
