Watering is a crucial part of plant care. But it is important not to overdo it, as excess moisture can harm them.

Heavy rains are a real disaster for gardeners. That's why Rivne Media has shared ways to help protect your vegetables from excessive watering.

Even moisture-loving plants can be seriously damaged if they are watered too often or too abundantly. Excessive rainfall is likely to lead to root rot and the development of fungal diseases.

If the soil moisture exceeds 60-70%, you may lose the crop. Therefore, it is necessary to take care of plant protection in advance and take measures if necessary.

Tomatoes

Excessive moisture can cause tomato roots to rot and spread rot on the leaves and ovaries. To prevent this, you need to loosen the soil regularly. In addition, you can make a canopy over the bushes to protect them during precipitation.

Cucumbers

For the normal development of cucumbers, you need to water them abundantly and often, but if you pour too much water on them, there is a risk that they will begin to suffer from powdery mildew. Therefore, if forecasters predict prolonged rains, you should pay more attention to weeding and loosening the soil.

You can also apply fungicides.

Cabbage.

During the rains, slugs and snails that like cabbage become especially active. To protect the crop from these parasites, sprinkle wood ash or dry slaked lime around the plants. You can also spray the cabbage with a mustard solution.

Zucchini

Vegetables such as zucchini, pumpkin, melon, etc. are very severely affected by bad weather. Rain drops nail the leaves to the ground, which causes the crops to grow and develop poorly. To protect them, put agrofiber under the leaves.
