How to make wrinkles invisible under makeup: tips for perfect face coverage
With age, applying foundation becomes a problematic process. The skin loses its firmness and elasticity, and the thick texture of the cream gets clogged with wrinkles.
To avoid this, makeup artists recommend that you don't overlook preliminary care and choose moisturizers or serum formulas as a base. Experts have given five important tips on how to achieve a radiant and healthy complexion with daily makeup.
Life hack 1
The first step is to moisturize the skin with a serum and apply a high-quality sunscreen.
"The most important element of daily skin care is sun protection. Regardless of what other products you use, your skin won't look its best if you don't protect it first," said dermatologist Alexis Chapman.
It is worth using a mild cleanser in the morning and evening, and a vitamin C serum and sunscreen in the morning, immediately after washing your face. A serum with hyaluronic acid will also nourish the skin.
It is important to do a gentle exfoliation several times a week to get rid of dead skin cells and improve blood circulation.
Life hack 2
Before concealer and foundation, apply a primer to the skin. This product will make your skin smooth. Makeup artists advise choosing primers with a moisturizing effect that contain hyaluronic acid and retinol.
Life hack 3
For mature skin, it is better to use a foundation rather than powder. Small powder particles can emphasize unevenness. Skin loses moisture with age, which often leads to wrinkles. Before applying foundation or serum, makeup artists suggest using a moisturizer first.
Life hack 4
Look for foundations with vitamins. B vitamins have a moisturizing effect and are great for smoothing the skin. Products containing vitamin C will brighten and moisturize, while vitamin E protects against the sun and age spots. Vitamin A or retinol improves elasticity – it is a key ingredient in anti-aging products.
Life hack 5
With age, the processes of renewal and regeneration slow down, and the skin becomes dull. When applying makeup, it is best to practice the "minimum effective dose" approach.
"If you don't put on too much makeup, you don't have to worry about it rubbing off on your nose or cheeks," said professional makeup artist Mandy Bryce. So even if the first age-related changes appear on the skin, this is not a reason to apply a double dose of foundation or other cosmetics.
