How to make an orchid bloom more than 3 times a year: try this simple method
People like to grow orchids at home because of their luxurious flowers - without them, this houseplant looks rather nondescript. But what if a flower brought from the store has faded and no longer produces buds?
Knowing the nuances of proper orchid care allows you to stimulate them to bloom 3 or more times a year. OBOZ.UA tells you how to feed the plant without harming it.
Of course, the key is the watering regime of the flower. The plant should be watered as soon as the root system of the flower dries up. You shouldn't keep the orchid moist all the time either, as this can cause the roots to rot.
But what is worth adding to the water is a few small pieces of banana peel. It contains potassium, phosphorus, and calcium, all of which are necessary for frequent and abundant flowering. However, it should be used with caution.
1-2 days before you plan to water your orchid, take the water you are going to use and add a couple of slices of banana peel to it. Put the water container in a dark and cool place. By the time you water the plant, the banana will have released its nutrients into the liquid.
All you have to do is take out the peel, dilute the infusion with clean water in a 1:4 ratio and pour the solution over the flower. Use the same watering method as you always do.
Another way to use banana peel for orchids is to wash the fresh it, cut it into strips, and dry it in the sun. The dry peel is then ground into powder and sprinkled on top of the soil. The main rule is to apply very little of this fertilizer as an excess of nutrients can be harmful to the flower. The "less is more" concept is what you need to remember.
