Excessive sunlight, especially during the summer heat, can lead to leaf burns.

"Aloe vera thrives in bright, indirect light, so it's best to place containers near a window on the east or west side," explained Georgina O'Grady, managing director of Evergreen Direct.

Just make sure that the plant is not in the sun or too close to a window, as glass can amplify sunlight and cause even more severe burns to the leaves.

How often should you water your aloe

Aloe vera needs minimal watering. You should only moisten the soil moderately when the top few centimeters of the substrate in the pot is dry. Excess moisture should drain away freely through the drainage.

Which substrate to choose

In addition to watering and exposure to sunlight, the compost mixture is also of great importance for proper development.

Florists recommend using compost for indoor plants or cacti. An ordinary multi-purpose compost without peat with the addition of garden sand or perlite is well suited. Sand will promote better air circulation and prevent rotting.

Rules for fertilizing

Aloe vera does not need careful regular fertilization. Excessive external intervention can have negative consequences. Organic fertilizers are ideal, which are best applied no more than once every 2 months between April and September.

Experts recommend replanting the plant every two to three years.
