In July, Ukraine experienced an abnormal heat wave. In conditions where air conditioning is not possible, it is worth knowing how to protect yourself from overheating and the risk of heat stroke.

To suffer less from the heat, you should follow a few available life hacks. OBOZ.UA will tell you which ones.

If there is electricity, but no air conditioning, you can put ice in front of the fan to cool down quickly. The fan itself does not cool the air, it simply blows air over the skin, which helps to evaporate sweat and slightly reduce body temperature.

It's different if you use ice. Then the fan will blow air over the ice container, cooling the air.

A dip in a pool, a cool bath, or a few minutes in a cold shower is a good way to get rid of the heat. However, it is almost as effective to wet your wrists and other pulse points with cold water.

The fact is that pulse points are the areas where arterial blood vessels come closest to the surface of the skin. Blood flows through them from the heart, and if you cool the pulse points, the vessels will spread colder blood through the body, which will ultimately help lower the temperature inside.

Experts say that this trick works especially well if you have trouble falling asleep on a hot night. In this case, before going to bed, you should wet your wrists or feet with cold water, and sleep will come faster.

Another interesting tip is to use peppermint oil. It contains menthol, which stimulates nerve receptors that are sensitive to cold. So, just mix a drop of peppermint oil with a little coconut oil and rub the mixture on your neck. This manipulation will not lower your body temperature, but it will help to create a feeling of coolness. In addition, the aroma of this mixture can also invigorate.

In extreme heat, nutrition experts also recommend eating water-rich fruits and vegetables. In extreme heat, your appetite can disappear almost completely, but you should eat at least a little every few hours to help keep your energy up. So opt for fruits and vegetables such as watermelon, celery, oranges, and green peppers. They contain a lot of water and nutrients. At the same time, it's important to make sure you combine them with protein to help keep your blood sugar stable.

Oddly enough, some doctors recommend eating spicy foods in extreme heat. Foods such as curry and chili can stimulate heat receptors in the mouth, which can help improve blood circulation and cause sweating. This, in turn, will help cool the body.

In hot summers, it's a good idea to do a cooling facial. For this purpose, it is recommended to store some cosmetics, such as moisturizer, in the refrigerator. On a hot day, applying a cold cosmetic product to your skin, you will get a cooling effect without any problems.

A great way to speed up blood circulation and get rid of the feeling of lethargy is sports. However, in extreme heat, excessive physical activity, such as running or cycling, will deprive you of energy faster and can be dangerous. So when it's very hot, you should get more rest. And vigorous yoga breathing exercises will help you recharge your batteries without much physical exertion.

If you still want to do sports even in the heat, do it in an air-conditioned gym or at least in the basement of your own home, where the temperature is usually lower than in other rooms.
