How to clean the headlights

Regular cleaning of car headlights is necessary primarily for safety reasons. Road dirt, precipitation, and chemicals on the asphalt surface affect not only the appearance of the headlights, but also their functionality.

The lens coating becomes cloudy, yellowed and faded over time. Read the OBOZREVATEL article to know how to restore clean it.

If you don't have the opportunity or desire to go to a car wash, you can use cheap and affordable alternatives. For example, prepare a special mixture.

The necessary ingredients include:

  • baking soda
  • toothpaste
  • solid soap
  • lemon juice

Pour 1 tablespoon of baking soda, 3 tablespoons of toothpaste, ¼ bar of solid soap (you can use regular or laundry soap), and the juice of ½ lemon into a small container. It is better to grate the soap. Mix all the ingredients until smooth.

After that, use a kitchen sponge to take a little of the mixture and apply it to the headlight with the hard side. It is important not to wash it off immediately with water - the product needs time to work. After 5-10 minutes, remove the foam and residual solution and wipe the headlights with a dry towel.

One of the main ingredients in this recipe is toothpaste. It will not only make the headlights shine but also hide small scratches.

By the way, white vinegar is also an effective tool for restoring and cleaning dirty headlights. The acidity will help remove dirt and yellowing easily. Pour 1 cup of water and 2 cups of vinegar into a spray bottle. Leave the solution on the headlights for 2 minutes, and then wipe with a microfiber cloth. This will help you get rid of streaks, dirt, and dust on the headlights.
