How to clean chrome faucets to a shine: 3 tips
Chrome faucets are a staple in many modern bathrooms and kitchens. However, these surfaces are often covered with stains or limescale.
Although chrome faucets are quite durable, using unsuitable cleaning products can lead to a dull finish, scaling, or corrosion. Experts tell us how to clean faucets or remove mineral buildup without damaging the surface.
Tip 1
The first step to cleaning faucets is to polish the surface with a cloth dipped in a solution of warm water and vinegar (1:1 ratio).
This will help remove limescale from the faucets.
"Gently wipe the faucet in a circular motion, making sure to cover all areas. Then rinse with water," advises Logan Taylor, a cleaning expert at Dazzle Cleaning Company.
Don't use stronger cleaners or harsh abrasives, even when dealing with heavy limescale or soap scum. Chrome is a delicate material, so a soft microfiber cloth is recommended. Do not use a brush or a coarse cloth, otherwise there is a risk of damaging the surface. Also, avoid harsh chemicals.
Tip 2
After removing stains and deposits, you can polish the chrome faucet with a damp microfiber cloth, adding a little dishwashing detergent to restore the shine.
"Apply a little soap and water to a cloth or sponge and gently wipe the surface. Finally, rinse thoroughly with water," advised Edwin Nino Delgado, a cleaning expert.
Tip 3
Dry and polish the faucet. This step not only prevents streaks but also makes the chrome shine even more.
Similar to cleaning a mirror or washing windows, even back-and-forth motions in the same direction will help avoid unpleasant streaks after cleaning.
Chrome faucets should be cleaned every time you clean the kitchen or bathroom, about once a week.
