Eco-friendly cleaning methods are gaining popularity. Mr. Carrington's method from the BBC's Sort Your Life Out program will help clean the stove from dirt and bacteria, as well as additionally disinfect the surfaces.
The natural acids in grapefruit make it an ideal cleaning agent. Citric acid contains antibacterial substances, so it kills harmful germs.
However, grapefruit isn't the only thing that can thoroughly clean a stained stove top. Before you start cleaning, Mr. Carrington advises covering the sliced grapefruit with salt. Then proceed to the actual cleaning process – rub the stove with the grapefruit, paying special attention to places with burnt food residues. The abrasive texture of the salt will quickly break down the dirt.
Important note: this method is not recommended for cleaning glass surfaces and induction hobs, as they require a special non-abrasive solution.
