How often should you clean your sofa: otherwise it can be harmful to your health
We usually spend most of our free time at home in the evenings on the sofa. It is the most popular piece of furniture in a house or apartment.
But you have no idea how many bacteria a sofa can contain if it is not cleaned regularly and done correctly. OBOZ.UA will tell you how often and how to clean it.
How to clean the sofa
Vacuum
Be sure to vacuum the sofa at least once a week, paying attention to places where dust can accumulate, such as the edges of the cushions. This can reduce the likelihood of dust mites collecting by removing their food source.
Cleaning
For fabric sofas, brushing and beating can be effective in removing any dust that has settled on the fabric. You should also beat any cushions from the outside to remove dust particles from them.
Steaming
Once a fabric sofa has been brushed, steam cleaning is another effective method of collecting residual dust and bacteria, as hot steam penetrates the fabric to kill dust mites and bacteria.
Wash covers and cushions
If your sofa has removable slipcovers, they should be washed along with the cushion covers to kill bacteria in hot water. However, make sure you choose a suitable cycle to avoid damaging the fabric.
Let them air dry completely after they have been washed to prevent them from becoming moldy.
