Russians are in ecstazy: Israeli national team suspended from the World Hockey Championship

Israel will not play at the World Cup

The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has suspended Israeli teams from participating in tournaments under its auspices, becoming the only organization to date to impose such sanctions. This decision was made at a meeting of the IIHF Council "due to concerns about the safety of participants."

This is stated on the IIHF website. It is noted that the federation considered the participation of the Israeli national team in the Division 2A draw of the World Ice Hockey Championship, which starts on April 22 in the Serbian capital Belgrade, and concluded that it was impossible to allow the team to participate in the tournament.

"In line with the IIHF's commitment to protecting all participants and pursuing a healthy and safe policy, the IIHF Council has decided to restrict the participation of the Israeli national team in IIHF championships until the safety and well-being of all participants, including the Israelis themselves, can be guaranteed," the IIHF said.

Thus, the teams of Serbia, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, Croatia and Iceland will play in the 2024 IIHF World Championship in Division 2A.
