"He's a beast, a darn little rabbit": Australian heavyweight champion calls out Usyk

Opetaia speaks out on Usyk

Australian heavyweight champion Jai Opetaia (25-0, 19 KOs) has expressed his readiness to meet Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) in the ring. The holder of the IBF cruiserweight belt noted that a fight against our compatriot would be a new challenge in his career.

Opetaia said this in an interview for The Stomping Ground channel on YouTube. The 29-year-old Sydney native praised the Ukrainian's performance in the rematch with Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) and noted that he would accept a fight with Usyk regardless of the weight category.

"I'm always open to it. I’d never say no to that kind of fight. It’s a fight I’d grab with both hands, one hundred percent. Usyk is simply a beast. He’s a real monster. He’s a darn little rabbit. He just doesn’t stop. It’s hard to beat a fighter who’s so exceptional. You’ve got to tip your hat to Usyk because you can’t fake that. It’s hard work—boxing like that for 12 rounds. It’s truly tough. So, you have to respect that," Opetaia said.

As a reminder, the day before, Usyk got an unexpected opponent. The holder of the IBF super-heavyweight belt Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) challenged the Ukrainian.
