Paralyzed Noland Arbeau, who was the first to receive a brain implant from Elon Musk's Neuralink company, faced problems after the operation. A few weeks after the successful procedure, some of the implant's "threads" came loose from the patient's brain.

This led to a loss of information, and Neuralink had to remove some electrodes from the brain and improve the interface, Metro writes. As a result, data transmission has become faster and more accurate.

Musk recently reposted a video with his patient, captioning it as follows: "Neuralink live stream demonstrating 'telepathy' - controlling your computer and video games with your mind alone."

Artificial brain

Earlier this year, 29-year-old Noland underwent an operation that had killed monkeys and other animals. The patient not only survived, but also began to successfully use the potential of his brain to play chess and other games online. More than 100 days have passed since the implantation.

"You see that cursor on the screen? That's all me... that's all the power of my brain," Noland said, comparing it to using the force as in the Star Wars movie.

"I feel very lucky to be a part of this. Every day we learn something new," he added.

Eight years ago, Noland survived a car accident that left him paralyzed from the shoulders down.

The man played chess while working at a children's camp in Texas in 2016. Now the patient has the opportunity to recall the skills, and without assistance and in a comfortable position, which he had previously had problems with.

How is the implant implanted?

The Neuralink brain chip works with the help of a robot that places the implant in the area of the brain that controls movement.

During this operation, a small piece of the skull is removed and electrodes from the chip are connected to specific areas of the brain. The robot then sews up all visible holes, so that the only visible scar is a tiny incision.

According to Musk, the entire procedure takes only 30 minutes, and patients can return home the same day.

Such a complex procedure was not without scandals. The method was tested on thousands of animals, including monkeys, pigs, and sheep. It is reported that Neuralink is responsible for the death of 1500 animals, including sheep and pigs.
