"He believes in the Ukrainian Armed Forces like no one else": Italy's coach wants to play the decisive Euro-2024 qualifying match in Ukraine
Italy's head coach Luciano Spalletti has expressed confidence that his team will meet the challenge of qualifying for the 2024 European Championships to be held in Germany next summer. The 64-year-old specialist has set his team a task to beat North Macedonia on November 17, and "then go to Ukraine."
Spalletti said this in a commentary to the European Football Union (UEFA), commenting on the defeat of the Azzurri by England (1-3). The Italian coach forgot that the Ukrainians cannot host rivals in their home country, and the meeting with the Blue and Yellows will take place in Leverkusen on November 20.
"I saw the team trying to do what I asked them to do and I saw some good things. We also made some mistakes. While we did well, we didn't manage to score, but once we made a mistake, we conceded. Now we have to win the next game to go to Ukraine and fight for a ticket to the Euros," Spalletti said.
Tribuna.com readers have already named the Italian the main fan of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. "Spalletti believes in the Ukrainian Armed Forces like no one else," one of them wrote.
The day before, the Ukrainian national team beat Malta with Mykhailo Mudryk's first goal for the Blue and Yellows and took second place in qualifying group C. Our website has published all the scenarios for Rebrov's team to reach the European Championship.
