Give away bad taste: 5 models of sneakers that look "cheap" and old-fashioned
In the early twentieth century, sports sneakers became part of women's wardrobe. However, the choice was modest. Only wedge sneakers were available because "ladies had to look elegant." In the noughties, when the owners were tired of the monotony, designers significantly expanded the range (and continue to be creative to this day!). Thus, how to choose the right ones among the pile of products?
In the OBOZ.UA article, we have prepared a selection of hopelessly outdated sneakers and tips on how to replace them. Check out this cheat sheet to avoid getting into a fashion disaster.
1. Wedge or high soles
These products left the trends around the mid-2010s. Subsequently, designers tried several times to bring back their "glory," but the demand for more comfortable shoes prevented this. Nowadays, fashionistas wear sneakers with thick (but not too high) or flat soles without patterns and colorful decor. They not only look stylish but also take care of feet.
2. With an excess of decor
Models with rhinestones, sequins, illumination, embroidery, or a strange combination of bright colors are not relevant. They do not fit into the "laconic design" trend. If you want to choose interesting shoes, rely on monochrome shoes in a rich shade, made of dense waterproof synthetics, suede or animal print.
3. Velcro
Sneakers with Velcro instead of lacing fit only in children's wardrobe. On girls and women, they look tasteless. Instead, stylists advise wearing lace-up or textile models without any additional fasteners (those that resemble moccasins).
4. With fur decor
To clarify, we are not talking about sneakers insulated with fur or wool (they are in trend now). We are talking about those with fluffy decor on top. Ditch them in favor of products with a creative design. For example, with small inscriptions, contrasting lacing, tie-dye or ombre prints.
5. Gold and silver
This point probably causes dissonance in you because nowadays things with a metallic effect are in trend. They are. However, this list does not include sneakers. They were relevant in the mid-2010s, but now they have become old-fashioned. Do you want to stand out and look impressive at the same time? Give preference to monochromatic bright pink, red or green models.
