Joy

The film tells the story of the invention of in vitro fertilization technology. It begins with a young laboratory assistant, Jean Pardee (Thomasin Mckenzie), who gets a job with a physiologist, Bob Edwards (James Norton), who is eager to learn how to treat infertility. Together, they convince a prominent gynecologist, Patrick Steptoe (Bill Nighy), to join their team. They face setbacks and disappointments, the tears of women whose hopes are not realized, and the pressure of society. Spoiler alert: at the end of this journey, one of them will win the Nobel Prize. They bought a batch of mixers from him to whip up milkshakes. And he figured out how to turn their small family business into a multinational corporation. Yes, we are talking about the McDonald's fast food chain.

The King's speech

It would seem that there could be no greater success in life than being born into a royal family. However, the second son of the British King George V, Duke of York Albert, becomes a disgrace to the family when one day he is unable to deliver a speech at the closing of an imperial exhibition. Albert suffers from a nervous stutter. The aristocrat's public career goes awry, and his attempts to correct the flaw fail one by one. Until the Duke's wife Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon learns about the Australian specialist Lionel Logue. She persuades her lover to give himself another chance. Meanwhile, circumstances are such that Albert has to inherit the throne. Will he be able to become a decent speaker by then, and thus a true father of the nation? Colin Firth won an Oscar for his leading role in this movie.

At first glance, this film is the story of a loser who is unable to take a critical view of himself and his successes. However, take a closer look, and you will see three storylines at once that tell the story of success. The young eccentric Eddie Edwards not only succeeds in winning a place on the British Olympic team, even though he is a very weak athlete, but also becomes a public favorite due to his good nature and sincerity. Bronson Pirie, a former successful skier, now an alcoholic and a sports center handyman, gets a chance not only to bring the strange boy to a decent sporting level, but also to rub his nose in his coach, who did not believe in him. And the way their relationship develops shows that true friendship helps to overcome everything. The story centers on the brilliant acting tandem of Theron Edgerton and Hugh Jackman.

A Imitation Game

World War II is in full swing. Hitler is on a victorious march through Europe, and he is aided by the Enigma encryption machine, whose code remains an insurmountable task for hundreds of specialists. One day, however, the Allies manage to get hold of one of these machines. The outstanding mathematician Alan Turing is assigned to find the key to it. He will have to fight against both the genius of the Enigma creators and bureaucratic obstacles. But the price of his work is thousands of lives and the fate of peace on the European continent. The role of Turing is considered one of the best in Benedict Cumberbatch's career.

When a sports team begins to fail, management usually changes the coaching staff. However, the managers of the Oakland Athletics baseball club, after a losing season and the loss of all profits, take an unconventional step: they hire a good economist. He helps to cut costs and introduce new technologies in the selection and training of players. The unconventional approach gradually brings amazing results.
