Georgian meatballs with suluguni cheese: a recipe for a hearty meat dish

Meatballs are a very satisfying dish that can be an alternative to cutlets, stuffed cabbage rolls, and buckwheat. To make them juicy and tasty, add grated suluguni to the minced meat.

The cook shared a recipe for delicious meatballs with spices and suluguni cheese on Instagram.

Ingredients:

  • 700 g of minced pork and beef
  • 2 medium onions
  • 2 eggs
  • 80 g of breadcrumbs
  • 100 g of milk
  • 150 g of suluguni cheese
  • parsley and basil, 2 sprigs each
  • 2 tbsp of tkemali sauce (optional)
  • spices

Sauce:

  • 30 g butter
  • 3 tbsp of oil
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 bell pepper
  • 500 ml of tomato juice
  • 100 ml of red dry wine
  • salt

Method of preparation:

1. Soak the breadcrumbs with milk for 5 minutes.

2. Beat the eggs, add salt, chopped herbs, minced meat, breadcrumbs, cheese, tkemali sauce, and onion (pass through a meat grinder or whisk a little in a blender). Put the minced meat in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

3. Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper. Form medium-sized meatballs and put them in the oven at maximum temperature for 10-12 minutes.

4. Fry the finely chopped onion in a frying pan with butter and oil until transparent, then add the bell pepper and fry for another 3 minutes, add the tomato juice, wine, and spices. Simmer for 10 minutes.

5. Put the meatballs in the sauce and simmer for 10-15 minutes, covered.
