Drones attack Moscow Oil Refinery

On the night of September 1, the Moscow region came under a massive drone attack. Among other things, UAVs targeted an oil refinery.

A large-scale fire broke out at the refinery as a result of a drone hit. This was reported by Russian Telegram channels.

According to preliminary data, at least 9 drones attacked Moscow and the region. In the Moscow region, UAVs hit the Kashira Power Plant, and in the capital's Kapotnya District, a refinery was targeted.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that the drone was allegedly shot down near the refinery, so "there was no damage or casualties" and that the enterprise itself continued to operate. However, a short time later, he said that the UAV had damaged the refinery's technical building and a fire broke out at the scene.

Kremlin propagandists complained that the fire at the refinery was assigned the highest level of complexity. Emergency services are working at the scene.

The Moscow Oil Refinery is owned by Gazpromneft. The installed capacity of the facility is 11 million tons of oil per year. The enterprise is connected to the main oil pipeline from Western Siberia and Tatarstan, as well as product pipelines (gasoline, jet fuel, diesel fuel). The plant has four tanks with a capacity of 50 thousand tons of oil each.

Later, a video was posted online showing UAV damaging the company's equipment. A massive fire broke out on one of the units. Judging by the flames, it is likely that fuel caught fire.
