"Falling graves" reported online due to work near Darnytsia Cemetery in Kyiv: police explain. Photos and videos
In Kyiv, construction equipment was spotted in the Pozniaky neighborhood, which began digging up an earthen wall adjacent to the Darnytsia Cemetery. Without understanding the situation, social media users began to claim that the graves were already falling down, but this was denied by law enforcement.
The cemetery is located on Kharkiv Highway. A video of the work was posted on social media.
"Some kind of construction has begun in Pozniaky. Everything would be fine, except for the Darnytsia cemetery on top. The graves are just falling," the message says.
The video shows that special equipment is working right next to the cemetery.
The Kyiv police press service told us that they had checked this information. It was found that specialists are strengthening the wall and carrying out emergency work to prevent a landslide at the cemetery.
"The information that the graves are falling is not true," the press service emphasized.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko checked on the construction of the Podilsko-Voskresenskyi bridge crossing. The construction of the road section from Petra Vershyhora Street to the final tram stop has already been completed. The construction of a tunnel for car traffic under the railroad towards Balzak Street is underway.
