On the morning of August 26, explosions were heard in Kyiv during an air raid alert. Russian occupants have launched missiles at the Ukrainian capital, and air defense is operating.

This was reported in the Telegram of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration. They urged citizens to stay in shelters and not to film the work of Ukrainian defenders.

An OBOZ.UA correspondent reported that a lot of people gathered in the Kyiv metro during the Russian missile attack, waiting for the alarm.

Local Telegram channels reported that power was cut off in different parts of Kyiv. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko noted that there were interruptions in water supply on the right bank due to the power outage .

NPC Ukrenergo ordered to introduce emergency power outages. DTEK pointed out that during emergency outages, schedules that can be predicted in advance do not apply.

The Kyiv City State Administration reported that the Vydubychi metro station is operating in shelter mode due to a significant increase in people. Trains are running on the green line:

- from Syrets station to Zvirynetska station;

- from Osokorky station to Chervony Khutor station.

Vydubychi and Slavutych stations are operating in shelter mode.

Later, the head of the KMIA, Serhiy Popko, said that the main target of the complex, combined attack of all these numerous cruise, ballistic, airborne missiles and attack drones was infrastructure.

"The cruise missiles came at Kyiv after complex maneuvers, in very dense groups from different directions. During the attack of these cruise missiles, the enemy fired several ballistic missiles in the direction of the capital in a row, including the aerial ballistic missile "Kinzhal"," noted the head of the KMIA.

According to him, the Ukrainian Air Defense Forces and means destroyed about a dozen missiles.

Right now , Kyiv is being attacked by strike UAVs from different directions, Popko said as of 12:17. Since the night, air defense soldiers have already destroyed a total of about a dozen enemy drones heading for the capital. The air alert in Kyiv lasted for over 6 hours.

"Due to the missile attack, Ukrenergo ordered emergency blackouts. There are problems with power supply in many parts of the capital. Therefore, I issued an order to deploy all the Unbreakable Points in Kyiv. Power engineers are working to bring light back to the homes of Kyiv residents. Don't panic and stay calm," urged the head of the KCIA.

As a reminder, on the morning of August 26, Russia launched Tu-95MS and Tu-22M3 bombers for missile strikes on Ukraine. At this time, the occupiers had already attacked our regions with groups of kamikaze drones, then launched missile carriers into the sea, followed by launches of cruise missiles and ballistic missiles.

After 08:00, explosions occurred in Kharkiv, Kropyvnytskyi, Kryvyi Rih, Vinnytsia region, and later in Dnipro, Kyiv, and Odesa.

As reported by OBOZ.UA:

- On the outskirts of Kyiv on the night of August 26, the defenders of the sky destroyed about a dozen Russian kamikaze drones of the Shahed-131/136 type. The attack was without consequences for the capital.

- On August 25, the Russians attacked the village of Svesa in Sumy region - the enemy dropped guided bombs directly on the residential area of the village. Two people were killed in the attack.
