The show was called "an unprecedented gala match"

Two football players who once played in Ukraine took part in an exhibition match in occupied Luhansk. The former Russian national football team defender Ramiz Mamedov and Ukrainian Oleksandr Babiy were among the players.

Mamedov, 51, played 13 matches for Dynamo Kyiv and 15 matches for Dynamo-2 from 1999 to 2000. Babiy, 55, played intermittently for Shakhtar Donetsk twice: in 1994-1995 (29 matches/2 goals) and 1996-1997 (26 matches/3 goals).

As "LPR" leader Leonid Pasechnik boasted on social media, the players played in an "unprecedented gala match" dedicated to the centenary of Luhansk football.

Russian footballers Dmitry Khlestov and Alexander Panov, who were famous in the past, also took part in the match. In his message, Pasechnik thanked the Russian Football Union (RFU) for organizing the show.

Earlier this year, the head of the Russian Football Federation, Maxim Mitrofanov, boasted that the RFU had received $8 million from UEFA under one of its financial support programs.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, the so-called head of the Luhansk Football Union of the Luhansk People's Republic, Yuriy Malyhin, expressed confidence that Zorya football club would participate in Russian tournaments. According to the "football official," they are not going to do what they did in Donetsk and create a new club from scratch.
