The famous British heavyweight Tony Bellew is confident that the only way to defeat WBC, WBA, WBO and IBO champion Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) is to outbox him throughout the fight. In Bellew's opinion, Fury bet on a knockout punch and that's why he lost.
"You have to understand that Usyk was pressing the whole fight. He took down the two-meter tall Tyson, who weighed over 120 kilograms. He knocked him down and mocked him. Imagine what he does when he's fighting at full strength at the limit of his abilities. Anyone who studies him and knows Usyk the way I know him understands that you have to bring him to you," Bellew said on the iFL TV channel.
Bellew clarified what he meant by this expression.
"You have to be able to box with them, you have to be able to answer his punches. You have to be able to continuously do all these things round after round. You have to be special to do that for 12 rounds in a row, but there's no other way to beat Usyk. These big guys just can't do it because they don't have the engine to keep up with the Ukrainian," said Toney.
