Russia complained about a new UAV attack

On the night of Tuesday, March 12, a new series of explosions occurred in Russia, which local authorities attributed to an attack by "Ukrainian" drones. Despite claims of "downing 25 targets," unidentified drones struck oil depots in Oryol and the Nizhny Novgorod region.

Severe fires broke out there, and there was also a lot of noise in the Belgorod, Kursk, and Tula regions. This was reported in Russian public media.

The city of Orel

Russian media and the authorities confirmed that one oil tank caught fire in Orel after a UAV strike.

"Dear friends, a UAV crashed in Orel. A fuel and energy facility was attacked. Special services are working at the scene to localize the fire. There are no casualties," wrote the Governor of the Orel region, Andrey Klychkov.

Kursk region

A missile threat was announced in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. A UAV was spotted flying over Kursk, explosions were heard, and local authorities claimed that Russian air defense was operating.

For example, Governor Roman Starovoit wrote that a Ukrainian drone was allegedly shot down in the sky over the Fatezsky district. "The consequences on the ground are being clarified," he added.

Later, he reported the "downing of two more Ukrainian airplane-type UAVs" over the Fatez and Zolotukhino districts, and a short time later, the "destruction" of three similar drones over the Kursk, Solntsevsky and Ponyrovsky districts.

Belgorod region

The governor of Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said that last night Belgorod district was "attacked by the Ukrainian armed forces using a UAV" that dropped four explosive devices. He assured that there were no casualties, but a power line was damaged.

As a result, seven settlements were left without electricity: Yasniye Zori village, Cheremoshnoye village, and the following villages. Cheremoshnoye, v. Ustinka, v. Lozovoye, v. Rovenyok, v. Petrovka, v. Solovyovka.

"Emergency and operational services will begin to eliminate the consequences after agreement with the Russian Defense Ministry," Gladkov wrote.

Tula region

Later, it became known that Russian air defense had also allegedly destroyed a UAV over the Tula region of the Russian Federation.

According to preliminary data, there were no damages or casualties, the Ministry of Regional Security reported.

Moscow region

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that air defense forces in the Ramensky urban district allegedly repelled an attack by a drone flying towards Moscow.

"According to preliminary data, there is no damage or casualties at the site of the crash. Emergency services are working at the scene," he wrote.

Nizhny Novgorod region

On the morning of March 12, a drone attacked the Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez oil refinery in Kstovo. The strike hit the oil distillation unit, causing a fire.

Lukoil, the company that owns the refinery, announced the suspension of the technical installation "in connection with the incident", and footage of a powerful "cotton" appeared on the network. Local authorities claim that there were no injuries and that emergency services are diligently extinguishing the fire.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, overnight, Russia "destroyed and intercepted" allegedly 25 "Ukrainian UAVs": 11 over the Kursk region, seven over the Belgorod region, two over the Moscow and Orel regions, and one over the Leningrad, Bryansk, and Tula regions.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, on the night of March 8, unknown drones attacked the territory of an ammunition arsenal in the village of Kotluban in the Volgograd region of the Russian Federation. According to preliminary data, two UAVs hit the facility.
