Drones attacked the military airfield "Marinovka" in Volgograd region: a fire broke out. Photos and video

In the Volgograd region of the aggressor country Russia, on the morning of Thursday, August 22, 28 UAVs were attacked and explosions were heard near the city of Kalach-on-Don. Afterward, a fire broke out over the nearby Marinovka military airfield, and detonation sounds were heard.

For the first time, the propaganda publics reported loud noises in the area around 03:30. Videos were also posted online showing gunfire and a fire from a possible airplane arrival. Against this background, locals complained that they were being forced to evacuate.

According to preliminary data, the target of the drones was allegedly the military airfield of the Russian occupation forces "Marinovka". It is located in the village of Oktyabrskoye (about 20 kilometers from the city of Kalach-on-Don).

"At the moment, at least two drones are known to have been shot down: one was destroyed a few kilometers from the airfield, and the wreckage of the second fell on a nearby hut, causing it to catch fire," a Russian propaganda outlet reported.

At the same time, the Russians also published morning videos from under Marinovka. They say that in the area of Oktyabrskoye, not far from the airfield, explosions from shell detonations were heard for a long time, and the airfield itself continued to burn. Locals were allegedly advised to evacuate.

"Shells that are being loaded into airplanes are exploding", "We were told to collect documents. Perhaps there will be an evacuation," and "Explosions at intervals of 1-3 minutes," residents of Karachiv district said after the UAV attack.

Officially, Volgograd Region Governor Andrey Bocharov confirmed the "repulsion of the drone attack" near the Marinovka airfield and acknowledged that the fire was caused by a drone crash on the territory of the Defense Ministry facility. According to him, most of the UAVs were allegedly shot down, there were no casualties, and firefighters quickly began to extinguish the fire.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported in the traditional style on the termination of "the Kyiv regime's attempt to carry out a terrorist attack using unmanned aerial vehicles against targets in the Russian Federation." They say that regular air defense means "destroyed and intercepted 28 aircraft-type UAVs," of which 13 were allegedly shot down over the territory of the Volgograd region, seven over the Rostov region, four over the Belgorod region, two over the Voronezh region, and one over Bryansk and Kursk regions of the Russian Federation.

Some Telegram channels report that on the night of August 22, drones damaged the parking lot of aircraft at the Marinovka military airfield near the village of Oktyabrskoye, 50 km from Volgograd. The airfield is home to Su-24MR reconnaissance aircraft of the Second Separate Reconnaissance Aviation Squadron of the 4th Air Force and Air Defense Command of the Russian Federation.

According to NASA satellites, three fire centers have been detected on the territory of Marinovka. One of them is on the site where, according to satellite images, aircraft are parked; the second is to the north, in the area where tanks are located; and another is in the area where the airfield taxiway runs.

OBOZ.UA has learned from its own sources that the SSU and the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine hit warehouses with CABs and fuel at the Marinovka airfield. The enemy is actively using this airfield to bomb the front line in Ukraine.

Local residents listened to the explosions of warehouses with aviation avionics, ammunition, fuel, and lubricants all night and morning. Pillars of black smoke rose over the airfield and powerful detonations were heard.
