Later, the arrival was confirmed by the governor of the Krasnodar Territory, Veniamin Kondratiev. According to him, the ferry was attacked by drones, and there is a dead man and wounded.
"The Kyiv regime has once again attempted a terrorist attack on the territory of the Krasnodar Territory. This morning, drones attacked a ferry ship in the port of Kavkaz. Emergency services are now working at the scene. The fire is localized and there is no threat of fire spread. Unfortunately, there are injured and dead among the crew and port employees. I express my sincere condolences to their families and friends. The victims are being provided with all necessary assistance," the Russian official said.

According to the Defense Express portal, this time the Conroe Trader ferry was most likely hit. This is one of the two rail ferries available to the occupiers that ply the Kerch Strait. At the same time, another one, Avangard, was already disabled on May 30 this year: Defense Express notes that it got a hole in the engine room and completely lost its buoyancy. It took the invaders three weeks to prepare it for towing to the Kerch Shipyard.
At the same time, the Conroe Trader also sustained some damage to its side, but it retained its functionality - temporarily, as the events of July 23 showed. And if it was a rail ferry that was hit that day, it could only have been that one.
At the same time, the portal adds, it is possible that one of the five car ferries was targeted: the large Lavrentiy, Panagia, Maria, and the smaller Kerch-2 and Eisk.
