Double podium: Ukraine had a real sensation at the European Athletics Championships. Video
Ukrainian high jumpers Vladyslav Lavsky and Oleg Doroshchuk sensationally won medals at the 2024 European Athletics Championships. At the Olympic Stadium in Rome, our compatriots won silver and bronze medals respectively.
For Ukraine, this was the second double podium in the history of the country's performances at the Euros in the men's high jump. Prior to that, Bohdan Bondarenko and Andriy Protsenko made a golden double in 2014.
Lavskyi cleared 2.29 meters, being the only one to break the barrier on the first attempt. This was a repeat of the 24-year-old's personal career best.
Doroshchuk managed to overcome the bar at a height of 2.26 meters. The 22-year-old from Kryvyi Rih stormed 2.29, but all three attempts were unsuccessful.
The winner was Italian Gianmarco Tamberi with a mark of 2.34m.

For Ukraine, these are the fifth and sixth high jump awards in the history of performances at the European Athletics Championships.
